Yawn.

There's not a lot going on here. We have another winter storm, which gave us about a foot of snow today. (How generous) It is freezing, and all I feel like doing is this:

A Green Thumb... possibly?

Now I am no gardener, but the last few weeks have me wondering. Three (count them, three!) of my plants are blooming as I type this. Two are African violets in my kitchen window,
and the third is my miracle plant from Luke. Actually it is a mum that he bought last Easter. I, in my typical black thumb fashion, watered it one day and then forgot about it, which led to root rot. Well, I determinedly spent the last eight months nursing that darn plant back to health. And now, as you can see, it is blooming with lovely purple flowers.

So yes, that's three successful plants. Score!

$$$ Accomplishments in 2008

I thought it would be encouraging to post the financial accomplishments we had in 2008. It's not a long list, but there are some big goals that we met and we are pretty happy about it!
  • Bought a house... Wendhurst Castle (but you knew that already, didn't you?)
  • Saved $3,000 for a new car. The way Luke has to drive for work, we may need this in 2009.
  • Got a 16% Raise... good job lover!
  • Quit my job/stayed home all year.  Oh yeah, this is the life.
  • Started retirement savings with a 10% contribution.
  • Didn't touch our emeergency fund at all this year. Yay!

Yum.

There's really not much else to say. I'd been craving these for weeks and these certainly hit the spot. Yum.

Tray Chic!

This picture tray was a wedding gift off of our registry almost two and a half years ago. Although we've used the tray since we got it, I have never taken the time to put any pictures into the openings. This is ironic because the reason I liked the tray was the fact that you could customize it with your own photos. Unfortunately, it sat like this for about two years.
Thankfully, I finally got my act together and got a few pictures printed for this purpose. I used pictures from the flowers at the Arboretum, some water lilies from the Conservatory in Central Park, and a Queen Anne's Lace from our backyard. I love how it turned out, and it is just so pretty!

Little Visitors

One of the things I love about our house is the amount of little visitors that we get. One morning  I came down to these on the mantel. Some little kitty had decided to pay us a visit, and came in right through the window I had for gotten to close! See his cute little paw prints?

Another time we went up to bed, and found this little guy in our bedroom. Needless to say he was skittish as a bird (he he, get it?) and I was able to snap this picture after he flew into the bathroom. We eventually got him back outside where he belonged. We found feathers in our room for the next couple of weeks though!

Snow...snow...and more snow...

What is one to do when it just won't stop snowing, and your whole entire driveway is filled with snow? Start shoveling? Absolutely. NOT! It is much more fun to roll snowmen parts IN your driveway, thus dispensing with the snow! I think they look just like us, wouldn't you say?
